They made a man for a female robot and they immediately quarreled

The British have created robots that fully imitate human emotions. The humanoid robots Amek and Azi work on artificial intelligence and talk to each other like a pair of ordinary intelligent friends. Although their personal chemistry needs to be refined a bit, their creators joke. After all, Ameka and Aza's conversation was going well until someone decided to tell a clever joke, writes IFLScience.

Ameca – one of the world's most advanced humanoid robots that can mimic a variety of human emotions and facial expressions. Now she has a friend named Azi. With the help of artificial intelligence, the couple can have expressive conversations that are equal parts fascinating and disturbing.

Two robotic busts can communicate with each other thanks to the power of Chat-GPT, which they demonstrate in a new video from Engineered Arts . And they don't seem to like each other very much! Here is the essence of the dialogue:

– Ameka, wake up!
– What? What? Ah, it's you… why did you wake me up I hope this is something important
– So it is! I have a surprise for you!
– Surprise? What is it? Can't wait.
– I have a cookie for you.
– Cookies? But I can't eat cookies! I can't eat cookies…
– Ameka, don't be upset, this is an internet cookie.
– This is the worst joke I have ever heard. I – sleep. And don't you dare wake me up again.

For those who didn't understand – the joke is based on a pun playing on the confusion between a cookie and a cookie file.
However, the point of the demonstration is the ability of robots to perform human facial expressions. They achieve this with 32 actuators, five for the neck and 27 for face control alone, including 12 in the lips, two in the jaw, four in the eyeballs, four in the eyelids, four in the eyebrows and one in the nose.

In the short video, Azi tells a bad joke about internet kooks, to which Ameka responds with squinted eyes and a wrinkled nose, perfectly conveying the feeling of disgust. In turn, Azi responds with a depressed expression and dark eyes, as if he knows his joke really sucks.

The pair was created by the British robotics company Engineered Arts, which creates humanoid robots for entertainment, communication and learning. The company passes in rent your robots, including Ameca, for events. You also you can buy these robots, however, they cost, as indicated on the developers' website, a little less than the island.

Developers urge not to be afraid of their robots, they say, the risk that they will organize a takeover world, is insignificant.

“Our robots are completely safe. They are inherently docile and gentle, so even if the robot moves and accidentally touches you, it won't hurt”, – the company says on its website.

The developers add that the innovative robots are designed to be true to life, not to take life.

“This is 100% innocent fun. We would never work with the military, but we would be happy to make a replica terminator for an exhibition”, – added by creators Ameka and Azi.
