Three more F–16 aircraft purchased from Norway have arrived in Romania

Three F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft purchased by Romania from the Kingdom of Norway have landed in Thursday, October 24, at the 71st Air Base “General Emmanuel Ionescu”. of the three F-16 aircraft that have arrived in the country, from those purchased by Romania from the Kingdom of Norway, together with a corresponding package of goods and services. Completion of the transfer is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

The acquisition of the aircraft strengthens Romania's security and ensures the protection of the national airspace and the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Alliance, the Romanian Ministry of Defense reports.

In accordance with the Concept of Gradual Implementation of Capabilities of air defense, within the framework of the Air Force Multipurpose Aircraft program, the Government of Romania concluded a contract with the Government of the Kingdom of Norway for the purchase of 32 F-16 aircraft with initial logistical support and a package of additional goods and services from the Government of the United States of America.

The aircraft will be delivered in operational condition with an available resource that ensures their operation for at least a 10-year transition period to 5th generation aircraft.
