Latvia reported the activity of various Russian aircraft near its borders

Last week, the activity of various types of Russian military aircraft was recorded in the immediate vicinity of Latvian airspace.

As reported by “European Truth”, Delfi reports this with reference to data from the National Armed Forces of Latvia.

The Latvian military noted that in the past week alone, three NATO airspace patrol missions were conducted to respond to a potential threat.

The armed forces explain that such air objects are invisible to civilian radars and can only be detected by military radars.

In such cases, it is impossible to identify the object, so the only way to establish its origin is visual identification, which is carried out by fighter jets patrolling the Baltic region.

As a reminder, in September a Russian drone flew into Latvia via Belarus.

Latvia then deployed additional radars and mobile air defense groups near its eastern borders.

Against this incident, Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds stated that NATO countries should adapt to the new reality due to Russia's aggressive actions.
