The War of the Rohirrim is revealed through its influences

While the second season of The Rings of Power has just ended on Prime Video, fans of The Lord of the Ringswill not even have time to digest Sauron's bitter triumph before other enemies will land in Middle-earth. Fortunately for all the viewers disappointed by the Amazon series, the animated film titled The War of the Rohirrim will have nothing to do with the adventures of Galadriel. This new chapter, set 183 years before Peter Jackson's trilogy, will explore the story of the revolt of the House of Helm Hammerhand, King of Rohan, led by his daughter Hera in the face of the attack of the terrible Wulf. As for the design of the animated film, it will also be different from what fans are used to.

During New York Comic Con 2024, Warner Bros. Pictures organized a special session for The War of the Rohirrim. The opportunity for Gaia Wise, the English voice actress of Hera, to reveal that her interpretation is inspired by Princess Nausicaa, the heroine of the famous eponymous film by Hayao Miyazaki released in 1984. A character who, in fact, is no different from that of Hera (non-Canon of Tolkien's work), whether in character or design. As for Kenji Kamiyama, who signs this new incursion into the universe of the Lord of the Rings, is also Japanese – which makes this reference all the more legitimate and understandable.
