This week, episode 6 of Agatha All Along has just been released on Disney+. An exciting new episode, more effective than the other chapters of the Marvel series. A sixth opus that drastically advances the mythology of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), which finally introduces the powerful Wiccan, and which is full of easter eggs. Here are the 8 elements to remember from this latest episode.
The Official Introduction of Wiccan
The end of last week's episode 5 concluded with this major revelation. The teenager from the series Agatha All Along, whose identity has been kept secret since the beginning of the series, is actually Wiccan. Wiccan, or Billy Maximoff or William Kaplan, is actually the son of Wanda Maximoff. Wiccan is a powerful sorcerer/telepath who works with the Young Avenger. Half Asgardian, his power is immense, and he is one of the most powerful sorcerers in the Marvel Universe.
For those who don't follow, Billy has already appeared twice in the MCU: in WandaVision and in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Two appearances where Billy is still just a child played by young Julian Hilliard. It's really a joy to finally see this character again in the MCU. We also learn in this episode 6, how Billy survived the destruction of Westview. At the moment when Wanda's spell was broken, Billy managed to transfer his consciousness into a vacant body: that of William Kaplan. The latter has a car accident with his parents, and while he is in a state of brain death, Billy slipped into his fleshly envelope, thus taking his place, and becoming, without knowing it, Billy Maximoff. Episode 6 focuses mainly on Billy's past and how he came back from the dead. A trajectory that follows that of the comics since in the pages of Marvel Comics, Wiccan's lost soul is saved by William Kaplan.And like in the comics, Agatha All Along features Rebecca and Jeff Kaplan, the teenager's adoptive parents.
The sigil
This episode 6 also reveals why Billy's identity remained a secret throughout the first part of the series. In fact, it was the witch Lilia who cast a spell on Billy. A spell that hid Billy's true identity from the wizarding world for years. A way to protect Billy from possible threats, but also to allow Wiccan to remain buried deep within William Kaplan. So Lilia put a sigil in William's jacket, which explains why his identity remained a secret for so long.
The voices on the radio
Just before their accident, William and his parents are listening to the radio. As the father searches for a station, we can hear the voices of Wanda and Vision coming out of the radio. Voices that were taken from the first episode of WandaVision.
Cinematographic easter eggs
When Billy rediscovers his room for the first time, his walls are covered with movie posters. The most observant will have recognized posters of Alice in Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz, Taram and the Magic Cauldron, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Carrie, Saw, The Craftor even The Goonies. Only movies related to magic, with horror and with quests and road trips, a bit like the plot of Agatha All Along.
The Avengers are mentioned
This episode 6 also allows direct connections to be made with WandaVision. Through a flashback we can see the fall of the Hex of Wanda. Just before Billy's accident, we can see the huge red dome collapsing on itself. An event that apparently has not been explained to the American people. The latter thinks that the Westview experiment is an Avengers training gone wrong.
The return of Evan Peters
Çthat's good news! Evan Peters is back as Ralph Bohner. Remember, in WandaVision, Marvel Studios called Evan Peters to play a fake Quicksilver. Initially it was thought that it was a simple variant of the character played by Aaron Taylor Johnson in Avengers: Age of Ultron. It was thought that Wanda wanted to get her deceased brother back. And Marvel Studios had the excellent idea of calling on Evan Peters to play the character. Evan Peters being the face of Quicksilver in the X-Men franchise. In the end, it turned out that Evan Peters was not playing a version of Quicksilver, but a character named Ralph Bohmer. The latter was bewitched by Agatha Harknessand became his servant in spite of himself (he even killed the dog Sparky on his orders). The latter even offered him ultra-speed powers to manipulate Wanda and make her believe in the return of her brother. Well Ralph Bohmer is back in this episode 6 of Agatha All Along and allows to drastically advance the plot by bringing many revelations on the events of WandaVision and Agatha All Along.
Agatha throughout history
Billy has conducted a whole investigation to discover her true origins and explain where her telepathic powers come from. During his research he discovered that Agatha is several centuries old. He found some documents that attest to her presence during major events such as the sinking of the Titanic or the fall of the Hindenburg. He also discovers that she is the only witch to have returned alive from the Witches' Road. A true survivor this Agatha!
Where is Tommy?
Above all, this latest episode drastically advances the plot of Agatha All Along. Now that Wiccan has been revealed, the series must focus on his trajectory. For the moment, viewers have discovered that Wiccan took the Witches' Road to find his brother. He hopes that the end of the Road will allow him to bring Tommy, aka Speed, back to the world of the living. At the moment, no one knows where Tommy is, even if his voice resonates when William dies during his car accident. Agatha All Along will therefore develop the character and identity of Wiccan, a future Young Avenger, an ambiguous character and a powerful sorcerer!
