A humanoid robot competition was held in China: they ran in the middle of the desert

The Chinese company Robot Era demonstrated the new capabilities of its flagship Star1 humanoid robots by testing them in the Gobi desert. During the race, two robots competed against each other, overcoming difficult routes and desert landscapes. This was reported by the publication New Atlas.

A distinguishing feature of one of the robots was sports shoes, while the other ran without them. Despite the late start, the robot in sneakers was able to catch up and overtake the opponent, developing a speed of up to 3.6 meters per second for 34 minutes.

Both robots are equipped with powerful engines and high-speed communication modules, which  allows them to effectively interact with the environment and adapt to different conditions. The height of the flagship robot is 1.71 m, and the weight is 65 kg.

Robot Era Company, founded in Tsinghua University in August 2023, aims to introduce universal humanoid robots controlled by artificial intelligence into domestic and professional spheres. This demonstration of Star1's capabilities is another step on the way to achieving this goal.
