“These actions underscore the unwavering commitment of the United States to protect Israel and Americans in Israel from any further ballistic missile attacks by Iran,” &ndash ; the statement said.

The Pentagon called it part of “broader changes the U.S. military has made in recent months to support Israel's defenses and protect Americans from attacks by Iran and Iran-linked militias.”

The US Department of Defense recalled that this is not the first time the United States has deployed a THAAD battery in the region.

Last year, after the terrorist attacks on October 7, the president ordered the deployment of a THAAD battery in the Middle East to protect American troops.

And in 2019, the US deployed a THAAD battery in Israel for exercises.
