And if the next Switch has recently been in the news again, it's because of a major leak, which reportedly allowed us to have confirmation of the code name used internally for the console.

A huge leak is hurting Nintendo (and Pokémon)

Since the start of the 2024 school year, information about the Switch 2 has continued to multiply, suggesting that the release of the new Nintendo console is fast approaching. After insider rumors that the Japanese firm would soon announce the console's release date and leaks about its price, players have recently been able to discover the name of the first official game announced for the Switch 2.

And more recently, it is the code name of the next Switch that would have leaked. Indeed, the information would come from a huge leak from Game Freak, the Japanese development studio known primarily for the Pokémon video game series.

The leak of stolen data would therefore not only have allowed information to be obtained on the 10th generation Pokémon games, as well as on the code name of Nintendo Switch 2, which would then be called “Ounce” internally. This would thus confirm the rumors on this subject which have already been circulating for some time online.
