Russia's war with Poland continues in cyberspace, with Moscow attacking Warsaw the most among all European Union countries. Russia will try to influence the course of the presidential elections in Poland, which will be held in the first half of this year.
This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitalization of Poland Krzysztof Gawkowski during a press conference on Tuesday in Warsaw, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
«Poland is waging a war with Russia in cyberspace. This war is happening, and it needs to be said resolutely and very clearly. This year, Russia has prepared many surprises for us in the bad sense of the word», – emphasized Havkovsky.
According to him, a special GRU group was prepared to carry out disinformation and sabotage activities in Poland. He added that the activities of such a group were exposed in Poland several months ago.
Havkovsky emphasized that Russia wants to influence the presidential elections in Poland, noting that Moscow is attacking Warsaw the most among all EU countries. According to him, the Russian Federation will deliberately interfere in the Polish presidential elections, but Poland is ready for this. In particular, significant funds have been allocated for cybersecurity, special groups have been created to combat cybercrime, and full coordination of actions is taking place with the Internal Security Agency, the Intelligence Agency, other special services, the police, etc. He added that the State Electoral Commission of Poland is also involved in these actions.
As reported, the presidential campaign in Poland will start in January, and the elections will be held in May this year.
The new President of Poland will take office on August 6, 2025.
