According to Apple, you need to clean the headphones not with water, alcohol or wet wipes, but with micellar water – this liquid is usually used to remove makeup from the face. You need to take some micellar and distilled water, as well as a toothbrush, and then clean all the meshes of the headphones one by one – first with "micellar" and then with distilled water.
After cleaning, Apple recommends leaving the headphones to air dry for at least two hours. Only after that they can be placed in the charging case or used as intended.
