McDonald's finally launches its new Nuggets in France

Last March, McDonald's attacked the German market by offering its McPlant Nuggets, nuggets made from peas, corn and wheat with a tempura batter. A victim of its success, this vegan product arrives in France this Tuesday. Vegan Nuggets at discover all over France, the most curious will eventually give them a chance.

In 2021, McDonald's offered its McPlant: a vegan burger made up of a vegan meat patty, a slice of vegan cheese made from pea protein and a vegan sauce, with mustard, onions, pickles, ketchup, lettuce and tomatoes, all in a vegan sesame bun. Since then, McDonald's has been developing its vegan range.In France, vegetarians can enjoy the Grand Veggie, which consists of a breaded vegetable patty, red and white cabbage, tomatoes and red pesto sauce, and a slice of French Emmental cheese.

And in 2023, the American brand wanted to expand into the German market by offering McPlant Nuggets, vegetarian nuggets. The product seems to have been a great success since McDonald's decided to import it into France.

“With a constant increase in the number of French people adopting a vegetarian or flexitarian diet, McDonald's is responding to changing eating habits,” explains McDonald's.

Available since Tuesday, October 8, Veggie McPlants (the name has changed) are available in boxes of 4, 6, 9 or 20, like their counterparts the Chicken McNuggets. Unfortunately for consumers, the price will not be fixed and will vary depending on the franchise. Veggie McPlants are nevertheless aligned with Chicken Nuggets, whose prices range from €3.50 to €4.50. and 4.5 euros.

Side recipe, no changes. Veggie McPlants are still made with “wheat and pea proteins and coated with a crispy breading, a clever blend of wheat and corn flours, light salty with notes of pepper and celery“. Clearly, the vegan Nugget is popular. It remains to be seen whether its arrival in France will be as noticed e than in Germany.
