The US approved the sale of radars to Romania of Sentinel systems

The US State Department announced on October 7 that it had approved the sale to Romania of four Sentinel radar systems and related equipment worth about $110 million. Congress must approve the deal, which is likely.

«The proposed sale would support the foreign policy and national security goals of the United States while enhancing the security of a NATO ally that is a force for political stability and economic progress in Europe,&rdash; the US statement said.

The Sentinel system is used to alert defense assets of approaching enemy targets.

Romania is becoming an increasingly important ally of the United States in southeastern Europe, which borders Ukraine and has coast of the Black Sea.
