The network verified the claim that the iPhone 16 line supports much faster charging than before. Considering everything, this is not true.

Earlier we wrote that the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max support super-fast (by iPhone standards) charging up to 45W. The information was taken from the regulatory framework of Chinese government agencies — there it was stated that new products can accept up to 15V and up to 3A. ChargerLAB specialists conducted their testing of the top iPhone 15 Pro Max and found that the smartphone does not accept such power.

According to the study, the smartphone managed to achieve maximum sustainable charging at the level of 30 W. At its peak, it received up to 37 watts, but it was not possible to see such a figure for every charge — for this, it was necessary to run very energy-intensive processes on the smartphone during charging. Testing was conducted using original Apple chargers and third-party accessories.

As a result, that progress in charging speed is +10W compared to the iPhone 15 Pro, for which the maximum power is declared at 27W. Most likely, 45W — this is only the bandwidth of the USB-C port in the new iPhones, not the peak power of their charging.
