UK Foreign Office summons Iran's chargé d'affaires over Iranian missile deliveries to Russia

The UK Foreign Office summoned Iran's chargé d'affaires on Wednesday, September 11, over the transfer of Iranian ballistic missiles to Russia.

"Today, in coordination with European partners and on the instructions of the Foreign Secretary, the chargé d'affaires of the Iranian Embassy in London was summoned to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office", – the UK Foreign Office said in a statement, Reuters reports.

“The UK government has made clear that any transfer of ballistic missiles to Russia will be seen as a dangerous escalation and will result in a significant response,” the statement said.

On Tuesday, September 10, during a visit to London, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Russia had received ballistic missiles from Iran and would likely use them against Ukraine within weeks.

On Tuesday, the US, UK and EU countries condemned the move.

Britain imposed sanctions on Iranian individuals and entities involved in the production of drones and missiles, as well as on Russian cargo ships involved in transporting missiles from Iran to Russia.
