Google presented a new system of quantum memory

The Google company presented a new system quantum memory

Scientists from Google Quantum AI presented a quantum memory system that significantly reduces the number of errors during calculations. In their work, published on the arXiv platform, they explained in detail the principles of this memory and its effectiveness in minimizing errors.

Quantum computers have the potential to perform tasks that are not available to modern supercomputers, however, their practical use is complicated by frequent errors. Google experts have proposed a new algorithm called “surface code”, which corrects errors using physical qubits that form logical qubits.

Tests have shown that the efficiency of the algorithm improves as the number of logical qubits increases. During the experiments, the number of qubits was increased from 72 to 105, which significantly improved the results. This discovery brings the creation of quantum computers with practically zero errors closer.
