Lenovo is changing the ThinkPad: a legendary element will disappear in new models

An insider under the nickname WalkingCat published images of the new Lenovo ThinkPad X9 laptop, which is to be presented next month at the CES 2025 exhibition. Apparently, the manufacturer decided to make radical changes to the design of the famous line.

What is known about the ThinkPad

Judging by the images presented, the Lenovo ThinkPad X9 will have narrow screen frames and a thin body. But the red TrackPoint mini-joystick, which was used to control the cursor and was considered a distinctive feature of ThinkPad laptops since 1992, is no longer there. The company probably considered it unnecessary given the large touchpad.

It is expected that the ThinkPad X9 will be available in two versions: with a screen diagonal of 14 and 15 inches. They will be built on the new Intel Core Ultra processors. Of the ports, you can see two USB Type-C. HDMI and 3.5mm audio jack.

In addition to the ThinkPad X9, Lenovo will introduce the Yoga Book 9i dual-screen laptop, the ThinkBook Plus sliding screen laptop, four tablets, and new portable consoles at CES 2025.
