Earlier, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had lifted an order to ground the airline's entire domestic operations.

The FAA said that American Airlines itself had initially requested a nationwide grounding.

According to aviation analytics firm Cirium, the outage occurred on a day when the airline was scheduled to fly more than 3,300 domestic flights. flights.

American Airlines shares initially fell nearly 3% before the opening bell, but later rose 1% after the issue was resolved.
