The perpetrator of the death of Luhansk journalist Volkova has been suspected

The State Bureau of Investigation reported suspicion to the driver who committed a fatal road accident in the Donetsk region, this is a journalist from Luhansk, a military correspondent for Ukrainian foreign service Anastasia Volkova, who died in May.

As reported by the press service, the State Bureau of Investigation reported suspicion to a serviceman who committed a road accident in the city of Sloviansk in the Donetsk region. The accident killed two people, including a journalist.

The investigation established that at about 3:55 p.m. on May 30, 2024, at the intersection of Bankivska and Shevchenko streets in Sloviansk, a collision occurred between a minibus driven by a serviceman and a passenger car.

The collision resulted in a U-turn of the vehicles, one of which hit a pedestrian walking on the sidewalk. The driver of the car died at the scene of the accident, and the female pedestrian, who worked as a journalist for one of the state-owned media outlets, died in the hospital.

As part of the pre-trial investigation, all witnesses to the accident were interviewed, and a vehicle technical and a number of other examinations were conducted.

A serviceman was notified of suspicion of a violation of road safety rules by a person driving a vehicle, which caused the death of several people (Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
