iPhone 17 smartphone prices could increase by $300

Apple fans are eagerly awaiting the iPhone 17 launch, which is likely to take place in September 2025. However, everyone is concerned about how much the smartphone will cost. According to recent statements by a prominent industry analyst, prices may increase compared to the iPhone 16.

What is known

During a guest lecture, Jong-wook Lee, a senior research fellow at Samsung Securities Research Center, said that iPhone prices will increase next year. This marks a potential shift after the iPhone 16 launched in 2024 without a price increase.

The iPhone 16 currently costs $799, keeping the same entry-level price as its predecessor, the iPhone 15. Despite this stability, Lee’s comments suggest that Apple is preparing to raise prices for the next generation. A look at the current lineup provides a basis for speculation.

For example, the iPhone 16 Plus sells for $899. The Pro models cost even more: the iPhone 16 Pro – $999, and the Pro Max – $1,199. Adding to the intrigue is the fact that rumors hint at a new model that will replace the iPhone 16 Plus – iPhone 17 Air. It could reportedly debut at a price of $1,299, a significant jump compared to the price of the iPhone 16 Plus. With sales of the latter reportedly not impressive, Apple could bet on an updated and more expensive variant to increase revenue per device.
