Google releases a new quantum computer chip, Willow, which opens up amazing possibilities for a surprised humanity. Analyst Anatoly Amelin shows the positives of this technological revolution — but also points to a possible global collapse that is becoming a reality.
The world is changing faster than you think!
Have you heard that Google is releasing a new quantum computer chip called Willow?
What does this mean for the world?
This chip can perform calculations in five minutes that would take a modern supercomputer 10 septillion (!) times. That's a number with 25 zeros, which is much more than the estimated number of stars in the Milky Way.
So what should we expect?
Positive opportunities:
- Breakthrough in scientific research: Quantum computing can accelerate the modeling of complex systems in physics, chemistry, and biology, leading to new discoveries.
- Development of medicine: Fast computing will allow for more efficient drug development and analysis of genomic data. What's more, it will lead to accurate diagnoses, prevention of future diseases, and effective customized treatment programs.
- Energy: Quantum computing can help develop more efficient and sustainable energy sources, such as nuclear fusion.
- Optimizing logistics and finance: Quantum algorithms can significantly improve route planning and risk management.
- Advances in artificial intelligence: Quantum computers can speed up the training of complex neural networks (which are already evolving not every day, but every hour).
But (!) there are also negative consequences:
- Forget about cybersecurity. Quantum computers can break all current encryption systems, which will require the development of new methods of data protection.
- Increasing technological gap between the USA and other countries (in particular with Ukraine). Access to quantum computing may be limited to developed countries and large corporations.
- Powerful computing can be used to create more sophisticated surveillance and control systems.
- Some industries may face rapid changes due to the new possibilities of quantum computing.
- The military application of quantum technologies may lead to a new round of international tension.
- And the most interesting — the end of cryptocurrencies, and first of all Bitcoin! Based on the required number of 13 million qubits, it is theoretically possible to decrypt the SHA-256 algorithm of the first cryptocurrency in a day with the help of 124,000 Willows. With a one-year term, only 340 chips from Google will be needed.
When these threats become reality?
To date, more than 30 governments have committed to government funding of quantum technologies in the amount of more than $40 billion, which will be deployed over the next 10 years.
In January 2024, QuEra Computing announced a strategic roadmap for a series of error-correcting quantum computers starting in 2024 and culminating in a 100 logical qubit error-correcting system in 2026 (!)
There is not long to wait before the collapse. Just over a year)
And in a year, if there is no collapse in 2026, then in 2027 China will be ready to invade Taiwan — and the World will plunge into the third World;)
Now you live with it!)
