The M113 armored personnel carrier received a remotely controlled machine gun

The combat units of the Defense Forces will soon receive the M113 armored personnel carrier with enhanced firepower, which Ukraine will receive as part of international assistance.

This will be a remotely controlled Tavria 14.5/7.62 module installed on the upper part of the APC. This news was announced on the website of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Main Department for Support of the Life Cycle of Armaments and Military Equipment.

“Now, thanks to the new module consisting of two 14.5 and 7.62 mm machine guns, the machine gunner fires from the middle of the armored vehicle, observing the battlefield through a monitor”, – said Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Dmytro Klimenkov.

Until now, the main armament of the M113 was a 12.7 mm machine gun. The machine gunner worked on targets from a poorly protected position on the armor.
