What not to do during an emergency landing of a plane
During an emergency landing, every second counts, so it's important to know how to act correctly. Here are 5 things from the European Aviation Safety Agency website that you absolutely must not do in such a situation.
Stay seated. During turbulence or an emergency landing, the safest place to be is in your seat with your seatbelt fastened. Getting up can cause injury to yourself and other passengers.
Do not open the overhead bin. Opening the overhead bin during turbulence can cause heavy objects to fall on you.
Do not attempt to exit the aircraft to the crew. The aircraft crew is trained to act in extreme situations and knows how to organize an evacuation in the safest way. Your attempt to leave the plane on your own may prevent the evacuation of other passengers.
Do not use a mobile phone. During an emergency landing, using a mobile phone may interfere with the crew's communication with the control center.
Do not panic. Panic is the worst advisor in extreme situations. Try to calm down, follow all the instructions of the crew and follow the safety rules.
