The court sentenced an IDP from Luhansk region to 6.5 years in prison for passing information about fortifications to the enemy

The Chuguyiv City Court of Kharkiv region found a 51-year-old displaced person from Luhansk region guilty of disseminating information about the movement, movement and location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out under martial law, as well as of justifying, recognizing as lawful and denying the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

“She was sentenced to 6 years and 6 months in prison,” the press service of the Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office.

As it was established, after moving from Luhansk region, the woman lived in the village of Novopokrovka, Chuhuyiv district, Kharkiv region, and in 2023 began communicating with a representative of the Russian Federation via telegram. She collected and transmitted information about the Defense Forces to him. In particular, living near the railway, the woman systematically monitored the movement, direction and number of Ukrainian military equipment and transmitted this information to the representative of the Russian Federation. She also marked Ukrainian fortifications and bases of Ukrainian military personnel on Google maps and sent them to the enemy.

“She did not receive money for disseminating information about the Ukrainian army: it was a conscious choice to support the aggressor state,” the regional prosecutor's office emphasized.

In addition, the woman published posts in support of the “Russian world” in pro-Russian chat rooms.

Ukrainian law enforcement officers detained her in March of this year. At the court hearing, the accused pleaded guilty. She claimed that she did not know about the changes in criminal legislation and did not report the motives of her actions.
