A citizen petition to ask Quebec to maintain the ferry service to Rivière-du-Loup has collected 7919 signatures in just over a month.

The initiator of the project, Marc Morin, submitted the petition to the office of the Member of Parliament for Rivière-du-Loup-Témiscouata Amélie Dionne at the beginning of ;Monday afternoon. He says he is very happy to have been able to obtain such strong support from his fellow citizens in recent weeks.

He believes that this civic approach that he began a little over a month ago proves the importance of keeping the ferry service in Rivière-du-Loup.

There were only two of us part-time to sign this petition so 7919 names c& #x27;is remarkable!

A quote from Marc Morin, initiator of the petition

MP Amélie Dionne undertook to deliver the petition to Quebec Minister of Transport, Geneviève Guilbault. However, she refused to allow journalists to enter her office to witness the filing of the petition.
