$7 million seized from Romanian resident who funded pro-Russian presidential candidate's TikTok campaign

Romanian law enforcement officers confiscated $7 million from Romanian citizen Bohdan Peschira, who financed pro-Russian presidential candidate Calin Georgescu's election campaign on TikTok.

The Romanian publication Agerpres reports on this.

According to representatives of the Prosecutor General's Office, searches were conducted in Peschira's home on the morning of December 7, which lasted until nightfall. After that, investigators seized several devices, computers and data carriers from one of the man's homes in Brasov.

On one of the computers, law enforcement officers found Peschir's accounts, which contained $7 million, so they confiscated them.

The prosecutor's office said that they were investigating Peschir's possible involvement in the illegal financing of Calin Georgescu's election campaign by using money that could have been obtained through criminal means.

Law enforcement officers established that between October 24 and November 24 of this year, Peschir transferred over 380 thousand dollars were received.
