5 useful features of the Android operating system to protect the battery and increase operating time

The battery life and durability of your smartphone are really important factors. But over time, any phone starts to drain faster and its battery becomes less capacious. And although it seems that there is nothing you can do about it, there are actually several features that can really help increase battery life, and I will tell you about them.

What you should know

Let me start by saying that every modern smartphone has a power controller, this is a special circuit board that actually protects the battery. It regulates how much energy is used during charging, limits the current when the battery is almost fully charged, or if the phone's temperature rises. This allows you not to worry if the charging is not of the best quality, the controller still will not allow the battery to overheat.

But even this controller cannot take into account everything. For example, it is better to charge a smartphone not from 0 to 100%, but somewhere in the range of 20-80%, and overnight charging is not the best solution. But now there is optimized charging function, which fixes this. When your phone is connected to the charger for a long time and is about to reach 100%, the current supply stops, and then, closer to the morning, the battery brings this percentage to the end. Also on Samsung or Google phones, you can set a charging limit of 80%.

There is also such a thing as fast charging. It is cool when you need to charge the phone quickly, but here is the problem – because of this, the phone heats up, and this is definitely not good for the battery. If you are not in a hurry, you can simply disable this function or connect a charger with a lower power. Now there are phones where you can choose the charging mode depending on your needs, like in Infinix or TECNO. This allows you to find a balance between charging speed and battery safety.

Another interesting feature is — bypass charging. This is when the phone receives power not through the battery, but directly to the board. This allows you to use the phone without any problems while charging, and some brands like Infinix and realme have already done this.

And, of course, let's not forget about the power saving mode. This is a simple but useful option that helps save battery life by disabling unnecessary functions and reducing the load on the processor. This also doesn't directly affect battery life, but it does reduce the number of charging cycles, which in turn helps extend its lifespan.

All of these features can really help your phone last longer, and to be honest, I started using them a lot myself after noticing how much it improved battery life.
