3,558 new cases and 10 deaths- time.news

of Paola Caruso

Data for Tuesday 20 July. The positivity rate drops to 1.6% (yesterday 2.3%) with 218,705 swabs. Zero infections in 24 hours in Molise. Friuli does not provide data due to IT problems. There is a slight increase in hospitalizations. Admissions: +6. Intensive care: +3

I’m 3.558 i new cases of coronavirus in Italy (yesterday there were 2,072, here the bulletin) with Friuli-Venezia Giulia which today does not update the data due to problems with the IT system (see note *). It goes up like this at least 4.293.083 the number of people who have contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus (including recovered and died) since the outbreak began. THE deaths today I’m 10 (yesterday there were 7), for a total of 127,884 victims from February 2020. People recovered or discharged they are altogether 4.115.889 e 1.760 those that came out of the Covid nightmare today (651 yesterday). The positive current – the subjects who have the virus – turn out to be in everything 49.310, equal to 1.785 more than yesterday (+1.412 the day before).

The swabs and the scenario

I total swabs (molecular and antigenic) were 218.705, or 129,616 more than yesterday when there were 89,089. While the rate of positivity 1,6% (the approximation of 1.62%); yesterday it was 2.3%. Here is the map of the contagion in Italy.

More infections in 24 hours than yesterday. The curve rises due to a greater number of swabs and the ratio of cases to test decreases to 1.6% against the previous 2.3%. The increasing trend, as can also be seen from the comparison with last Tuesday (July 13) – the same day of the week – when +1,534 cases were recorded with a positive rate of 0.8%: today there are more new infections of July 13 – more than double – with a higher percentage. The epidemic is still our present, the numbers are growing, says Health Minister Roberto Speranza at a web event of Cittadinanzattiva.

Hope points out: In these hours, which are delicate, we are reasoning within the government and with the regions to understand which are the best choices. There is also discussion on the thresholds of hospitalizations to establish the colors of the regions. Could be 15% for intensive care and 20% for hospitalizations in ordinary wards, the maximum occupancy thresholds for beds assumed to remain in the white zone. These are hypotheses being evaluated (the conference of the regions updated to tomorrow at 9 am). Furthermore, with the redefinition of the parameters, a minimum number of tampons should be established to be performed every week (150 per 100 thousand inhabitants).

There are nine regions with an increase in three-digit infections. The Lazio has the highest number of new infections: here there are +681 cases, of which 557 in Rome city, with a rate of 2%, which is higher than the national one, calculated on over 32 thousand swabs. But to have processed the largest number of regional tests – more than 34 thousand – the Veneto which identified +600 positives (rate 1.7%). They follow Sicily (+552 cases with 3% rate) e Lombardy (+407 cases with 1.3% rate). Above 200 there is the Campania (+233 cases with a rate of 1.6%). To have more than 100 new infections are then: Emilia Romagna (+185), Tuscany (+169), Sardinia (+145) e Piedmont (+122). Note that Molise communicates zero new infected, while as mentioned above, Friuli has not updated the data * due to IT problems.

The victims

The number of victims remains almost stable: they are 10 in the bulletin against 7 yesterday. Thirteen regions have zero bereavement, to which are added the provinces of Trento and Bolzano. While the highest number of deaths in Sicily (+3) and Campania (+3, of which one occurred in the last 48 hours and two previously).

The health system

There was a slight increase in hospitalizations, both ordinary and in critical areas. The beds occupied in ordinary Covid wards I’m +6 (yesterday +52), for a total of 1,194 hospitalized. The beds occupied in intensive care (TI) are +3 – this is the balance between the people who left and those who entered IT – (yesterday +6), bringing the total of the most seriously ill patients to 165, with 11 entrances to resuscitation (yesterday 16).

I vaccinated

The vaccine doses administered are over 62.3 million. Citizens who have completed the vaccination cycle are more than 27.7 million (51.43% of the population over 12). Here the map updated every evening and here the real-time data of the anti Covid-19 vaccines report on the government website.
