The discovery of Chinese archaeologists became known from reports in the regional media. Scientists argue that the find is of great importance for understanding what is happening in the Tibetan Plateau, as it may indicate a slow rise in territory in the northwestern part of the country. The study of fossils is currently being carried out by employees of several leading research institutes in the country. Experts managed to unearth the remains of various species of rhinos, ruminants and small mammals. All of them were found in the territory of the city of Tsetzuo and, according to preliminary estimates, belong to the late Oligocene period.
The authors of the discovery note that they made similar finds in other provinces in China, but this one differs in that the individuals were in a higher altitude area. Scientists continue to investigate the discovered fossils.
