The Lutsk City District Court sentenced 21-year-old Oleksiy Tokarsky, who defrauded more than fifty people. The defendant sold non-existent military ammunition on social media. When the victims sent him money – he stopped responding to messages or blocked them. The man was sentenced to 4 years and 3 months in prison for his actions.
As stated in the sentence of December 10, in June 2022, Oleksiy Tokarsky created a Facebook page designed to sell military uniforms, equipment, and ammunition. Since then, the man has been accepting orders and money from buyers, but has not sent them the goods. In total, from June to December 2022, the accused defrauded 66 people of 300 thousand UAH.
According to the investigation, Oleksiy Tokarsky received the victims' money on the bank cards of friends who did not know about his scheme. The accused told the latter that due to problems with his passport, he could not open his own bank account, so he asked to use their money. He used the money he received for his own needs, as well as to top up his gaming account in one of the bookmaking companies.
Judge Yaroslav Artysh found Oleksiy Tokarsky guilty of fraud committed under martial law, which caused significant damage to the victims (Part 3 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), and sentenced him to 4 years and 3 months in prison. The decision can still be appealed in the Court of Appeal.
