(Ottawa) The New Democratic Party (NDP) says it raised $ 2.5 million in the last three months of 2020, allowing it to finish paying off its 2019 election debt.
All federal parties are currently preparing for early general elections which could take place as early as this year.
The contributions of 2.5 million collected by the NDP in the last quarter represent more than 40% of the 6.1 million raised by the party during the whole of 2020. The NDP maintains that it still has more than one million dollars in his coffers after paying off all of his hefty $ 10 million debt incurred during the 2019 election campaign.
The Conservatives say they raised over $ 7.6 million from October to December, and the Bloc Quebecois received over $ 961,000 during that quarter.
The last quarterly financial reports of federal parties were due to be submitted to Elections Canada no later than 1er February.
