A 27-year-old Winnipeg woman has been charged with manslaughter following the death of her two-month-old baby caused by malnutrition, according to police.

On December 4, 2023, police and emergency responders responded to a home located on Atlantic Avenue, between Arlington and McKenzie streets. Police say they responded to a call for an unresponsive infant, according to a press release issued Friday.

The baby was pronounced dead on site. The woman was arrested Thursday by Winnipeg police. She remains in detention.
