1899: This lame idea will never see the light of day, despite fan theories

While we are already wondering if a season 2 will see the light of day, the creators confided in THE thing that will never happen in the series. And that's good !

At the moment, several series are a hit on Netflix. There is obviously season 6 of Elite which is far from unanimous, Wednesday which broke a record by becoming the most viewed series in English in a week, but also 1899. Created by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, the series completely turned our brains around with its unexpected ending, yet teased from the first episode. Everything is possible for the potential season 2. Well, anything but that.

This plot that will not happen in 1899

Even before the release of 1899, the creators of the show evoked the design of the series. On writing the script and developing the mystery, Baran bo Odar told The Hollywood Reporter that he and his writing partner had “no bad ideas” because they put everything immediately put aside the things that seemed far-fetched to them. “We're not afraid to bring up bad ideas because sometimes there's a little trick in a bad idea that can be used” he explained.

But if there is indeed a null idea according to him, it is this one. And we promise, that will never happen in 1899, despite some fans' wishes. “A bad idea that won't happen is that 1899 is tied to Dark. We get asked that question a lot. To all the fans: sorry, there won't be of Dark characters that will appear” added the creator. Dark and 1899 have at least one connection: actor Andreas Pietschman. He plays the captain of 1899 and adult Jonas in Dark.

An upcoming season 2?

For the At the moment, we do not know if 1899 will be entitled to a season 2. Before the launch of the series, Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese had nevertheless confided that they had developed the series to last three seasons, as Dark. They even explained that they already know the end of the series. Given the success of the show since its release, we hope that Netflix will soon announce some good news!
