15-year-old teenagers detained in Kharkiv who carried out terrorist attacks ordered by Internet curators from Russia

On December 8 and 9, 2024, explosive devices were detonated near police stations in Kharkiv.

In Kharkiv, the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police detained two minors who were involved in criminal activities against Ukraine by Russian special services. A 15-year-old boy and girl carried out enemy tasks by organizing terrorist attacks near police stations in the Slobidsky and Kholodnohirsky districts of the city.

This was reported by the SBU press service.

As reported by the SBU, the explosive devices were detonated on December 8 and 9, 2024. Both explosions occurred in places where police officers work, but fortunately, no one was injured. The attackers acted on the instructions of Russian handlers, who recruited them through Telegram channels, where they offered “easy” money for carrying out terrorist tasks.

According to the investigation, the teenagers acted separately. The guy prepared homemade explosives, which he filled with metal balls and equipped with detonators for remote explosion. The girl took the ready-made explosives from the hiding place and, together with the guy, disguised them in bags, leaving them in garbage containers near the police stations. They also installed mobile phones through which the enemy carried out remote detonation.

With these explosions, the occupiers hoped to cause panic and destabilize the socio-political situation in the region.

The SBU has charged the detainees under Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (terrorist act). Despite their young age, they face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
